Two Injured After Car Overturns Near Burke

By MacDowell Law Group, P.C. on June 25, 2018

An incident that took place in Burke on Friday, June 22nd, resulted in injuries to at least two people who were traveling in a car through the area. According to preliminary reports from the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue (reports that were issued via Twitter), it was close to 7:30 in the morning when a car—that was not described in any way in the tweet itself—driving down Fairfax County Parkway overturned and trapped two people inside of the cab.

The precise reasons for the car’s overturning were not immediately clear. We do know that at the time of the incident the entire area was experiencing inclement weather, but the report did not state how bad the weather was at the time of the crash and it also did not offer any hints as to whether or not the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue team were viewing the rain as a primary reason for the crash.

What is clear is that something happened along Fairfax County Parkway, close to where this road intersects with Old Keene Mill Road, that caused a car carrying two people to overturn. The reports did not state if it was one of the individuals inside of this car that called the police, if a witness to the incident phoned it in, or if it was an emergency responder who stumbled across the crash site and called for reinforcements.

Fairfax County Police as well as members of numerous Fairfax County rescue teams (such as the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue) rushed to the area and began offering assistance to the two people trapped inside of the car. We know that both of these individuals suffered from injuries as a result of the crash, but it is not believed that any of these injuries were life threatening. Still, any injury sustained in a car accident can result in lingering negative health effects that may or may not be immediately noticeable.

While the initial cleanup and investigation of the crash commenced, the northbound lanes of the Fairfax County Parkway were closed. It is believed that they were reopened a few hours later.
