Stafford Motorcyclist Dies in Collision with Truck

By MacDowell Law Group, P.C. on May 17, 2018

A crash between a motorcycle and a car in Prince William County resulted in the death of at least one person on Wednesday, May 3rd. Official reports from the Prince William County Police Department indicate that the crash happened during the evening, and that it only involved two vehicles: a pickup truck and a motorcycle. Riding the motorcycle was a 34-year-old individual from Stafford.

This person was on the back of their 2002 Yamaha and driving down the southern lane of Nokesville Road. As they progressed down the road, they began to near an unnamed shopping center. At the same time, a 1996 Ford F250 was headed down the northern lane of Nokesville Road. Behind the wheel of the truck was a 16-year-old. It is not clear if the driver of the truck believed that they had enough time to complete the turn or if they simply failed to adequately survey the surrounding area before attempting to make the maneuver, but either way, when the driver of the truck began to perform the turn from the road into the shopping center’s parking lot, they placed themselves directly into the path of the motorcycle.

The 34-year-old biker was unable to stop their vehicle in time to avoid a collision with the truck, and the two vehicles were subsequently involved in a T-bone crash. The rider of the motorcycle was thrown from the vehicle and into the road. It is not clear if the majority of the motorcyclist’s injuries came from their impact with the asphalt or if they came from crashing into the car, but the injuries were catastrophic either way. It is not clear if the emergency personnel were called by the driver of the truck or if a witness to the collision contacted the authorities, but we do know that by the time the paramedics and EMTs arrived there was nothing they could do for the gravely wounded man. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the F250 was not injured in the incident. It is not known if the accident is still under investigation and if charges are pending against the driver of the truck.
