Pickup Truck Crashes into Springfield Shopping Center
A car collided with a building in Springfield this past week after a driver seemingly lost control of their vehicle while traveling through the area. According to early reports issued from the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue, the truck accident took place sometime close to 9:30 in the morning, and emergency response services were contacted shortly after the initial collision took place.
Many of the facts relating to this particular scenario are not clear. At the time of this writing, we do not know the name of the individual driving the car, we do not know the name of the building they crashed into. We do not even know the road on which the person was driving at the time of the incident. All that the reports have given us is the information that on the morning of Saturday, September 15th, a pickup truck was traveling near to a shopping center located within the city of Springfield.
As the truck was passing by this shopping center, something happened within the vehicle to cause the driver to lose control. It is not clear if this was the result of another vehicle entering the pickup’s travel lane, a medical emergency, or some sort of combination of excessive speed and substance abuse. It is also not clear if the truck was traveling through the shopping center’s parking lot or if it was being driven on a road near to the shopping center.
Someone, possible the truck’s driver, called the emergency services after the collision, and soon there were numerous teams in the area including members of the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue. The truck had collided with a large column used to support the shopping center’s awning, and while this collision could easily have been catastrophic both for the driver of the truck and the structure of the shopping center, the early reports from the scene of the investigation suggest that both the building and the person in the car managed to escape from the incident without too much harm.
The investigation into the incident is still underway as the authorities attempt to discover just what happened to cause the driver to collide with the pillar in the first place.
