One Dead After Collision at Manassas Car Wash
A car crash that took place at the Soaps and Suds Car Wash in Manassas left one person dead and another suffering from minor injuries late in March. Police working within Prince William County reported that the crash, which happened at the car wash located at 9725 Liberia Avenue, involved numerous cars, two Soaps and Suds employees, and a car wash customer.
A 19-year-old man from Manassas was behind the wheel of a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee and driving it away from the rear of the car wash after it received the Soaps and Suds services. As the employee was driving this vehicle, he accidentally collided with a 2011 Dodge Ram. It is not clear how these cars were arranged so that the following domino-effect was attained, but the collision between the Jeep and the Dodge caused the Dodge to lurch forward into a 2011 Scion XD. Standing before the Scion at this time was a 38-year-old Manassas resident who was also employed at Soaps and Suds.
The force of the collision between the car and the employee was severe. Someone unmentioned in the report called 9-1-1 and soon the Prince William County Police and other first responders throughout the area were on hand to assist the woman and begin investigating the incident. The report indicates that the 38-year-old was badly injured in the collision and that she was then rushed to a nearby hospital. We know that it was not long after her admission to the medical center that the woman was declared dead.
Another person, a 56-year-old Manassas resident, was also injured in the incident. This person’s injuries were not considered severe enough to warrant a hospital visit, and it is not clear if they were struck by a vehicle or suffered some sort of injury after they dove out of the way of one of the out-of-control cars.
The individual who owns the Jeep but who was not inside of the vehicle when the accident took place remained at the scene of the accident while the preliminary investigation took place. At the time of this writing, it is not known if any charges are pending against the 19-year-old who was behind the wheel of the car during the instigating collision.
