Multi Car Crash on Valentine’s Day in Fairfax County

By MacDowell Law Group, P.C. on February 18, 2018

On Wednesday, Valentine’s Day, drivers in Springfield were making their way home after a long day of work when a frightening crash took place on Interstate 95 that resulted in numerous delays, although thankfully no injuries. According to the Fairfax County Police, the crash involved several cars and took place in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95, shortly before the interstate reaches the County Parkway. The report stated that the crash occurred close to 5:00pm.

Details surrounding the crash were not quick in coming as the Fairfax County Police Department and the Springfield Police Department are in the process of conducting an investigation into the incident in an attempt to discover what happened, when, and who, if anyone, is primarily responsible.

Based on pictures posted to the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Twitter account, the crash was most devastating for a white car whose make and model are not immediately identifiable from the pictures. While none of the other vehicles involved were visible, the picture clearly shows that the white car’s front end is badly damaged. In addition, the car is resting on its head, undercarriage and wheels where the roof should be.

Given the amount of force needed to propel a car off of its wheels like this, it is rather miraculous that no one inside of the car was badly injured, but the initial report clearly stated that, even though multiple cars were involved in the incident, not a single person was injured as a result.

Traffic through the area was massively delayed while the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department worked to clear the road of all debris while simultaneously allowing the Fairfax County Police Department enough time to conduct its initial investigation into the incident.

At the time of this writing, it is not believed that any of the individuals involved in the incident are facing any charges relating to the crash. The investigation is still ongoing while the Fairfax County Police Department follows all leads, and it is possible that as their examination of available facts continues that one or more individuals will emerge as the being primarily responsible for the frightening crash.
