Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Arrest Man on DUI Charges
On a Monday late in April, a police officer in the the Loudoun County town of Sterling was on patrol somewhere in the city. It was early in the morning, and the officer in question was in their cruiser, watching traffic and ensuring that all passing motorists were obeying the posted road rules and generally driving safely. Shortly before 2:00 in the morning, the officer received a call over their radio indicating that there was a rear-end collision that was close to their vicinity. The officer then redirected their vehicle to the area reported in the call.
The caller informed the 9-1-1 operator that the crash had taken place near the intersection of Route 7 and North Sterling Boulevard. When the officer reached this location, they found two cars in the area, one with damage to its rear end and the other with damage to its front. The officer exited their patrol car and approached the area to begin communicating with the drivers of the two cars. It is not clear if anyone else was in the vehicles at the time of the collision, although it seems likely that the driver’s of the cars were the only people involved.
Other officers with the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office were now at the scene, and the law enforcement individuals began to question the two drivers in an effort to make some preliminary discoveries about the event. According to the official report from the Loudoun county Sheriff’s office, the officers at the scene determined that one of the drivers involved, a 34-year-old Sterling resident, was the primary party responsible for the collision. Reading the report offers some clues as to why the officers came to this conclusion, but there are still unanswered questioned in relation to the incident.
The 34-year-old Sterling resident was arrested and charged. We believe that he was charged with Driving Under the Influence as well as Driving Without a License. He was taken from the area of the crash to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center where he was held for an undisclosed period of time while an official bond review was undertaken.
