Herndon Hit-and-Run Leaves Fairfax Police Looking for Culprit
Police in Herndon and Fairfax County are currently searching for an individual believed to be involved in a traffic accident as well as an armed robbery that took place inside of Herndon, on Saturday, May 19th. Initial reports suggest that the incident began with the collision between two cars at the intersection of West Ox Road and the Fairfax County Parkway at close to 3:30 in the afternoon. The Fairfax Police Department reported that after the accident happened both of the drivers pulled their cars over to the side of the road.
The reports did not indicate what caused the accident or if either of the two drivers is believed to be the primary individual at fault, but what makes this case unusual is that after the collision between the two vehicles, one of the drivers left their car and walked up to the other driver, still believed to be inside of their vehicle at this time.
The driver who had left their car reportedly then produced a concealed firearm and, using the weapon as an agent of coercion, forced the other driver to relinquish several things from within their car. The stolen items comprise a phone as well as a camera that the second driver had mounted on their dashboard.
At the time of this writing, Fairfax County Police are still trying to locate and arrest the individual in question. After this task is completed, it is highly likely that they will face numerous charges, including those of hit-and-run. It is not clear at this time if anyone was injured in the incident; although, because one-half of the participants fled the scene shortly after the collision occurred, it is hard to produce an exact gauge regarding the extent of the damage.
As more information relating to this incident emerges from the Fairfax Police Department it is likely that additional updates from that law enforcement organization will surface to provide us with the important details. The task of the Fairfax Police is now to use the information they received at the scene of the crash (both from the location itself and from witnesses) to identity and locate the missing driver.
