Fairfax Woman Charged with DUI After Arrest

By MacDowell Law Group, P.C. on June 18, 2018

A 22-year-old Fairfax County Resident was driving their car near the intersection of Fairfax Boulevard and Picket Road in Fairfax on Friday, June 8th, when they passed an on-duty police officer who noticed something amiss with the vehicle’s operation. According to a report from the Fairfax County Police Department, the car was spotted by the police officer shortly after 1:30 in the morning, which suggests that they had been out during the previous night and had remained out until the early hours of the following morning.

The report did not specify just what the driver was doing to raise the suspicions of the police officer who made the traffic stop. All we know is that the car was driving in a way that made the officer suspect that something was wrong within the cab of the car and that the vehicle as it was being operated posed a potential danger to the car’s inhabitants as well as other motorists and pedestrians around the area.

When the officer activated their emergency lights, the driver of the car in question did pull off to the side of the road. The officer then walked up to the front of the vehicle and began to converse with the car’s driver. Through this conversation, the officer’s suspicions were not dispelled: in fact, they were heightened. While we do not know if any field sobriety tests were administered to the driver of the car, and while we also do not know if a breathalyzer test was given to the driver, the reports made clear that the interaction between the woman and the officer resulted in the officer arresting her on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

The officer then transported the woman, a 22-year-old Fairfax resident, to the Fairfax Adult Detention Center. Once inside the detention center, the woman was officially charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and given a bond of $2000. No public information currently exists regarding the time or date of the trail or whether or not the person in question currently has a lawyer or if they have yet to assemble a legal team to help defend them in this matter.
