Fairfax County Police Search for Driver Responsible for Hit-and-Run
Police throughout Fairfax County are on the lookout for a driver believe to be responsible for a hit-and-run accident that took place last Monday. According to the official report, the incident happened early in the morning along the Fairfax County Parkway and involved at least two cars.
At close to 7:00 am, two cars driving in opposite directions were both nearing the place where the Fairfax County Parkway crosses Lee Chapel Road. As the two vehicles drew closer to one another, one of the vehicles, a car that has only been described as “green,” drifted outside of its lane, crossed over the median, and collided with the other car.
After the collision, the driver of the green car apparently decided that their car was in good enough shape to get away and, not interested in remaining at the scene of the crash, continued to drive along the Fairfax Parkway. By the time the emergency response teams, including the Fairfax County Police Department, arrived at the scene of the incident the green car was long gone.
Two people were inside of the second car, and both of them were treated at the scene for minor injuries. They were subsequently transported to a nearby hospital, although it is believed that this was primarily as a precaution.
While an initial investigation was conducted, one of the southbound lanes of the Fairfax County Parkway was closed, cutting in to the early morning rush-hour. It is believed that the lane was only closed for an hour before all the needed information was gathered and the residual debris removed from the area.
At the time of this writing, it is not known whether or not the authorities with the Fairfax County Police Department have had any luck in locating the green car and its driver. Based on the crash scene, the police narrowed their focus to include only green cars with front-end damage. When found, the driver of the green car will likely face numerous charges including hit-and-run, and hit-and-run from a collision involving injuries. No further information regarding this crash is currently available, but it is believed that the Fairfax County Police Department will issue further statements as the investigation continues.
