Car Collides into Dunn Loring Power Pole, Driver Sustains Injuries

A single car accident in the Fairfax County city of Dunn Loring this past Wednesday has investigators looking into the possible reasons behind the incident and subsequent injury of the driver of said car. While much of the information regarding the incident is currently unknown, it is not clear if this is because the investigation is still very much ongoing or because the police have, for obscure reasons, not seen the necessity of releasing the updates to the civilian populace.

We do know, from reports by the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue teams, that the accident took place in the afternoon of June 6th, sometime around 3:30pm. A single car was making its way down Cedar Lane when, for reasons that are not currently clear, the driver lost control and collided with a power pole located near to the area.

The Fairfax County Fire and Rescue report indicated that after the car hit the pole it flipped over onto its roof, trapping the driver within the vehicle. Although not explicitly stated, it does not appear that there was anyone else inside of the car at the time of the crash into the pole, and no one other than the driver in question sustained any injuries as a result of the incident.

Rescue crews worked to pull the driver of the car from the vehicle and were ultimately able to do so before any of the injuries sustained by the individual became life threatening. The driver of the car was then transported to an area hospital where they received treatment for the injuries they did experience.

While the authorities conducted the initial investigation into the crash, a large chunk of Cedar Lane, specifically the portion that covers the distance from Westchester Drive to Idylwood Road, was closed. The closure of the roadway also enabled the repair crews working within this particular stretch of Fairfax County to reach the damaged power lines and begin to restore them to their proper condition. A conservative estimate placed the length of time needed to adequately repair the downed lines at around 5 hours. Drivers planning on passing through the area were strongly encouraged to seek alternate routes to avoid massive disruptions of their commutes.
